PHP / Web Developer

Job Length: Long Term, 40-hours per week

Job Description

Duties:

  • Build web sites using a variety of systems (CMS, E-commerce, etc.) as well as code designs into templates and program custom functionalities.
  • Custom Programming as needed using PHP and MySQL.
  • Incorporate external systems and APIs into projects, from email marketing, Eventbrite, or custom client-based systems.
  • Customer Service/Troubleshooting: Aid clients with web-related or email-related issues
  • Manage hosting environments, monitoring usage, and bandwidth adjustments if necessary
  • Manage SSL certificates and DNS changes as necessary
  • Support internal network setup, backup and password management systems
  • Track results from Google Analytics and recommend website improvements for clients as needed

Skills: Employee must have a(n)…

  • Strong Background in PHP, MySQL, XHTML and HTML 5, CSS 2 & 3, Javascript, and jQuery
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems, E-Commerce Systems a must (MODx, Joomla, Magento, and Xcart a plus)
  • Ability to manage servers (httpd, mysql, ssh, etc on Linux: CentOS, Ubuntu, etc)
  • Familiarity with shared (WHM + cPanel) and dedicated hosting environments.
  • Dedication to research and troubleshooting, as well as keeping up with industry standards.
  • Ability to read what others have programmed, and mold systems to our needs
  • Experience with customer service and support
  • Good understanding of email systems (Postini)
  • Strong communication skills (relate to clients and team members)
  • Knowledge of SEO/SEM and basic Social Sharing best practices is a plus

Experience/Training:

  • 5 years of web development experience
  • Bachelors Degree or higher
