Learn the Lingo:
Word of the Day: URL
A website's URL, or Universal Resource Locator, is just a fancy way of saying "web address." Individual URLs act as a home base for web documents and websites. The URL for our contact us page is http://www.ideabankmarketing.com/contact-us.
If you want to lead someone to a particular page on your website, give them the full URL.
Tips & Tricks:
Powerful Tips for "Titles"
Let's say you have a page entitled "Join the Marshmallow Madness Society." It looks great on the page, but it doesn't fit on a button very well and makes the URL too long. Our CMS has given you full control over all of these titles. Log in to your CMS and follow along in the "Generals" tab.
-
Leave your Page Title as "Join the Marshmallow Madness Society." This
text will show as the title in the content area of your page and on the top of the browser.
- Type "mallow-eaters-rock" into the Document's alias field to change your URL (Note: The words must be separated by dashes). If this were the Idea Bank site, the URL would be "http://www.ideabankmarketing.com/mallow-eaters-rock"
- Type "Mallow Eaters Unite" in the Menu title to rename the button.
Save your changes, and your page is ready to delight the mallow-eating masses.

Increasing your site's return visitors is a hot topic with all of our clients. Providing Fresh Content is one of the best ways to get your audience to continually check back. This is easy to achieve with "dynamic" content that actually updates itself.
Option 1: In our last newsletter, we discussed dynamic news teasers, as seen in the left column on the Arthritis Center of Nebraska website.
Option 2: Take advantage of an RSS Feed (Rich Site Summary -or- Really Simple Syndication) from a reliable source like CNN, or WebMD. These feeds deliver regular information, are available in a wide range of categories and can be chosen to address the needs of any industry.
Idea Bank can program an area on your home page so that each day, users see up-to-date news that relates to your organization. Check out the RSS feeds used on some of our sites:
- Husker Power Products (Market Reports from DTN)
- Community Services Fund (News from Non-Profit Quarterly)
