Word of the Day: RSS Feed
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. This is the method of taking online articles and "feeding" them to those who request continuous updates.
Individuals or websites are able to "subscribe" to these RSS Feeds, typically marked with this icon, and funnel the information they want to receive into one location.
Idea Bank can help you incorporate an RSS Feed into your homepage that will pull in information that fits your business and audience.
You can also share YOUR news by offering an RSS feed to visitors. This allows subscribers to easily consume your news and share it with others, which can positively impact your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Heritage Nebraska turns their news into RSS feeds and makes this feature accessible from every page in the site under the left menu.
Tips & Tricks:
Save the Date!
Whether you are worried about remembering to post a completed page in two weeks or want to schedule a limited-time offer, you have the power to control your site's publish and un-publish dates to meet every scheduling challenge.
Publish Date:
If you wish to build the page and launch it later, enter a future date in the "Publish date" field.
- Find "Publish date" field under Page Settings tab.
(On news article pages, the publish date may appear in the "General" tab.) - Enter information by hand (day-month-year hours:minutes:seconds) or click on the calendar icon to select a date.
- Add content and save the page.
- You can still preview and test the page before it's published by clicking on the icon next to the page in the site tree and selecting "Preview".
Un-publish Date:
- Find "Un-publish date" field under Page Settings tab.
- Enter a date by hand, or use the calendar icon to select a date.
- Save the page.
Features:
Going Global
If you're looking to expand your market overseas or to incorporate the diverse languages in your own community, Idea Bank can set up your site to allow visitors to change the language with just a click of a button.
We can develop a process that will translate every page of your site to the language of your choice, or provide a dropdown menu of all languages offered by Google® translations. This allows visitors to read every page, including the navigation, of your site in their language.
If you prefer more control, we can create a mirror of your entire site with each page custom translated into any language.
- Grand Island Public Schools utilizes Google® to translate their entire site into Spanish.
- Bruckman Rubber Co. offers custom translated pages on their site.
Testimonials:
Making an impression
"Wow! Thanks for the hustle on this. I am really, really impressed with the site. I showed it to our board member who is the retired art director of the Omaha World Herald and he really liked the graphics and the layout. Great work. Not that I expected anything less."
