Sheryl would rather laugh and keep things light than hold a grudge or focus on the negative. So, when a problem comes along, she fixes it and moves on. That serves her well in keeping IdeaBank’s debits and credits in their proper places.
Sheryl handles “everything accounting” at IdeaBank, as well as human resources. She enjoys the relaxed atmosphere and working on her own, and she’s not afraid to learn new things when the need arises. When she sees a job that needs doing, she tackles it and crosses it off her list.
A Kansas native, Sheryl moved to Hastings as a child and graduated from Hastings High School. For 27 years, she lived in and around Virginia, where she met her husband, Sam, who moved there from Cairo, Egypt. They have two sons, Jordan, a graduate student at the University of Iowa; and Noah, who studies engineering at Central Community College-Hastings. They share their home with Xena, a “very spoiled” Great Pyrenees; and two cats, Phoenix and Waffles.
Sheryl loves history and the natural beauty of special places. Among her favorites are the Smithsonian Institution and Yellowstone National Park. Still on her travel wish list are the pyramids of Egypt and the temples of Greece.
