EPIC Discovery Center

EPIC Discovery Center | Grand Island, NE

Intro:

The people behind the Grand Island Children’s Museum had an unusual problem. The name they were organizing under no longer fit the kind of facility and programming they planned to offer. Before they launched a fundraising campaign, they needed a new identity that not only reflected a broader range of audience but also generated excitement in the community.

Our Role:

1. Brand Name
2. Logo Design
3. Video Production

Strategy:

We began by leading a branding exercise with members of the organization’s board and the community. The exercise helped identify the group’s key mission and goals, audiences and words that describe the organization. With information gleaned from that exercise, we developed a branding statement to serve as a foundation for all further branding efforts.

Brand Name:

Drawing on the branding statement and key words from the branding exercise, we brainstormed three possible names. Each had its own strengths, but all reflected the audience of teens, tweens and families, the importance of STEAM learning and the excitement of the center. EPIC stands for Explore Possibilities, Inspire Creativity and also means something beyond the usual or ordinary.

Logo:

We developed and presented three logo concepts. The client chose a colorful design that best symbolized the energy and creative exploration that EPIC Discovery Center will provide to its audience.

Sherma shares how we helped Grand Island Children’s Museum choose their new name and logo. If you’re naming (or renaming) a company, organization or program, these 7 criteria points can help you, too.
