An Email by Any Other Name

Email Options for Your Organization

Options for email can be endless, which is why the team at IdeaBank Marketing asks lots of technical questions before recommending the best website and email solution for your organization.

Here are some of the options for email.

  1. ISP: If you already have email services through your local ISP, you can keep those services even if someone else builds your website. If those emails are not yet tied to your domain name*, have your ISP change that. Just give them a list of how you want your emails to look, such as first.last@mydomain.com.
  2. Gmail: If you only need one email address, you can set up a Gmail account. Idea Bank can even help you configure the Gmail so that it LOOKS like it’s sending and receiving from an email tied to your domain name such as info@mydomain.com. An email by another name is SWEET!

Remember, if ever changing email addresses, be sure to advertise that change a month before making the switch. We also recommend running both old and new emails for about two weeks, before canceling the old.

*Tying emails to your domain name is just a matter of changing the MX record in the domain name. Your domain name administrator can do this, or you can give Idea Bank Marketing the login and we would be happy to help.

Terms to Know:

ISP: Internet Service Provider
Registrar: The organization used to purchase a domain, such as GoDaddy, Network Solutions, or Tucows.
MX records: The mail exchanger record within the domain that points to your email.
