Tailgatin' Tips Campaign

Tom Dinsdale Automotive needed a game-changing play when they asked us to produce a series of television spots. Idea Bank delivered.
We started with a concept that would resonate during fall in Nebraska; tailgating. We kicked-off the party with a logo – featuring a wonderful caricature of Tom – and followed with a set of television commercials offering ‘Tailgatin’ Tips.’
These tips played both sides of the ball, offering advice for planning a tailgate party and shopping for a car at Dinsdale.
To increase the campaign reach, we kept the party going online.
We developed “Tom’s Tailgatin’ Giveaway,” a Facebook promotion aimed at growing Dinsdale’s Facebook following and email marketing base. Using TV and radio spots, Facebook advertising and in-dealership signage, we drove viewers to the contest app (which we also developed), capturing their email address and a ‘Like’ for the Dinsdale page when they entered our weekly drawing.
Beyond creating the contest and managing the Facebook advertising campaign, we also developed a Facebook strategy. We provided the Dinsdale staff with guidance on managing their page and getting the most out of their newly-cultivated audience.
So how did it go?
In the four months the campaign ran, we saw the following results:
- Increased Facebook audience by 115% (from 219 fans to 471)
- Grew email list by 140% (from 128 to 308 subscribers)
